About NEET

The Medical Council of India (MCI) that governs the medical education in the country has set up the National Entrance Eligibility Test (NEET) to screen undergraduate admission in medical colleges. The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the test and sends the all India rank list to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. NEET is the only entrance exam for Medical, Dental, Ayush, Veterinary, and other health-related courses. As per the merit list, students are admitted to different colleges across India. MBBS seats in the Government and Deemed universities in India, allocates 15% of the admission as NRI quota.

MBBS Eligibility Criteria
for NRI/OCI/PIO

  • A valid passport
  • NRI seats in NRI quota will be allocated only to bonafide NRIs
  • Candidate must have qualified NEET
  • Candidates applying under NRI sponsorship must have a real blood relationship to the financial supporter.
  • Candidate should have passed the class 12 exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or an equivalent exam with 60% marks.
  • Candidate’s age must be within the range of 17 to 25 years.

About JEE

Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is constituted by two different examinations: JEE-Main and JEE-Advanced.

JEE (Main) has two papers, conducted twice a year – January & April.

It is also an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is conducted for admission to IITs.

 

Paper 1 is conducted for admission to top Undergraduate Engineering Programmes (B.E/B.Tech.) at National Institute of Technology (NITs), International Institute of Information Technology (IIITs), other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTIs), and Institutions/Universities, funded/recognised by participating State Governments.

Paper 2 is conducted for admission to Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) and Bachelor of Planning (B.Plan.) courses in the country. It is usually conducted twice every year.

JEE ADVANCED

JEE-Advanced (formerly IIT JEE) is the second phase of the examination and is usually conducted after the JEE Main exam.

It is conducted for Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and some other equally prestigious universities such as Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru, Indian Institute of Space Technology (IIST) Thiruvanthapuram, IIPE, IISERs, RGIPT. This exam is conducted by any one of the IITs every year.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • There is no special quota for NRI/ OCI/ PIO. Admission for the JEE Main passed candidates are done through DASA (Direct Admission for Students Abroad).
  • For admission to IITs, foreign nationals who have completed 10+2 or equivalent abroad are not required to appear for JEE Main and can directly register for JEE Advanced.
  • Only the foreign national candidates who have studied or are studying in India at 10+2 level or equivalent are required to appear for both JEE Main and qualify for JEE Advanced.
